Q: What makes Metro Dance Company different?
Our studio environment and culture sets us apart. We are the premier dance school in our area due to us constantly focusing on offering the highest quality instruction in a positive, welcoming, family friendly studio. We truly think of our students and their families as family and love making sure everyone feels welcome at the studio. Our teachers are positive, our front desk is always available to help and we love to HAVE FUN!

Q: Do you offer classes for beginners?
Yes! We offer dance and music classes for all levels, including beginning teens and beginning adults through advanced pre-professional students.

Q: How old does my child need to be to take dance classes?
Students can start as young as 2 1/2 in our Combo 1 dance class.

Q: What experience do your instructors have?
All of our gymnastics and dance classes are taught by trained, experienced instructors with a passion for teaching. Our teachers continue to further their education through seminars, masterminds, conventions and classes and some continue to perform. Some group classes may also include a student assistant under the direction of the instructor.

Q: What are your typical class sizes?
We limit the size of all of our classes based on the age and ability of the students to insure that each student receives the highest quality of dance and music education. Our smaller class sizes make sure that no fundamental concepts are missed. Combo 1 dance classes (ages 2-4) and Combo 2 dance classes are limited to 12 students per class and our Youth dance and gymnastics classes (ages 6-10) are limited 14 students per class. Group piano and guitar classes are are limited to 4 students. Most Combo 1, Combo 2 and Youth dance classes also have a teacher's assistant and/or a student assistant. All other recital and technique dance classes are limited to 16 students per class.

Q: What are your prices?
Regular group dance and gymnastics classes start at $58 per month for one class per week for 10 months.

Q: Where are you located?
We are located on the northeast corner of Mill (Lilley) and Ann Arbor Trail, just east of downtown Plymouth. Our school is easily accessible from Livonia, Northville and Canton.

Q: Does my child have to conform to a specific dance dress code?
For proper dance education, it is important that all students dress in the appropriate attire for each specific class. Ballet in particular involves very detailed body movements and placement. Having all students dressed to a standard makes it possible for the instructor to more easily notice incorrect positions and movements to make the appropriate corrections before any "bad habits" are formed.

Q: Do you have a dance recital?
Yes, we offer a dance recital in June each year. Our recitals and shows are stress-free and FUN!

Q: Are there any additional costs?
Each dance student is required to purchase a costume for the recital which costs $79/class.

Q: Can I take pictures during the recital?
No, picture taking during the production is not only discourteous to other audience members, it is very distracting and dangerous to the performers on stage. Picture and video taking is allowed during the full dress rehearsal prior to the recital. A professional videographer will have DVDs of the entire performance for sale.

Q: Are you closed for vacations or during holidays?
We typically follow the Plymouth-Canton school district for Thanksgiving and Christmas/New Year break schedule. A list of all important dates, including studio closures are provided for each student in September. All important upcoming dates are also listed on our website home page.

Q: Do I pay the same amount per month even when there are fewer classes?
Yes. For our fall music and dance season we charge the same tuition over 10 equal monthly installments September – June. The calendar in each month will vary depending upon which day you have your class with classes meeting from 2 to 5 times each month. Every class will meet 35 times over the ten months.

Q: Do I have to sign a contract?
No, tuition is paid on a month-to-month basis. At the time of registration you will pay for the registration fee and September tuition, then on the first of each month October - June monthly payments will be automatically debited from your bank account or credit card on file. We do require notice by the 25th of the previous month to avoid being charged for the upcoming month’s tuition.

Q: What dance styles do you teach?
Our current class schedule includes Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Pointe, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Preschool Combo, Gymnastics, Ballroom, Cecchetti, and Adult classes.
